Junior Activist represents a series of supplementary sessions where students learn about various world issues and then discuss ways they can help solve that issue.

Along with our external learning opportunities, this program expands students' awareness and provides a knowledge base that filters in to the projects students then create in the Foundations component.

The uniqueness of this model not only means a tremendous impact on the kids we work with, but also a tremendous impact on our surrounding community. In under 3 years, our projects have raised over $10,000 in support of charities across Calgary, while also fostering connections, and providing others with an avenue to get involved.

The foundation of our entire curriculum, the Project Initiative program gives students the opportunity to take charge and, from start to finish, create and execute projects to impact causes they are passionate about.

Students not only see the issues around them, but they experience first hand how they can enact change on their own, empowering them to think differently and growing their compassion for others.

OUR LEARNING PHILOSOPHY

OUR PROGRAMS

As stated above, our curriculum is based upon two major elements, and is covered across three major programs. Specific details about each of these programs is included below. To learn more about our learning philosophy as a whole, please see the section above.

EXTERNAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Occasionally, students also participate in 'external learning experiences' - where they volunteer and help contribute to the execution of other initiatives conducted by other groups and non profits.

This makes them aware of the various other projects and potential solutions out there, and encourages them to think differently about their own ideas.

OUR IMPACT

OUR LEARNING PHILOSOPHY
Our Programs

As stated above, our curriculum is based upon two major elements and is covered across three major programs. Specific details about each of these programs are shown below.

Foundations

The foundation for our entire curriculum, the Project Initiative Program gives students the opportunity to take charge from start to finish, as they create and execute projects to impact causes they are passionate about.

Students will learn how to identify issues in their community and experience first hand how they can enact change. This program helps students become empowered to think differently and grow their compassion for others.

Junior Activist

The Junior Activist program represents a series of supplementary sessions where students learn about various issues and then discuss the ways that they can help solve those issues.

This program, along with our External Learning Opportunities program, expands students' awareness of current issues. The Junior Activist program also provides a knowledge base that will support their work as they go through the Project Initiatives program.

External Learning

Students can participate in the External Learning Opportunities program, where they will volunteer with other community initiatives and non-profit organizations.

This program helps students become aware of other projects and initiatives being run in their communities. This exposure to others' ideas helps students develop solution-based mindsets and innovative thinking.
